About Me

Farm roots, family stories, and American history woven together on one family farm.
I grew up on a dairy replacement/vegetable farm. And then life happened. I married and moved, had kids and got divorced. My love of history was hidden like the roots of the crop that laid in my granddaddy’s field. When I met my 2nd husband Steve, those roots began to take hold. 5 years ago, we inherited the family farm. Although the cattle are long gone and the barns are quiet, something still grows there…history. This blog is for all the family stories from our farm to my family’s Appalachian roots in East Tennessee. It is also for all the local history and American history that shaped this great country. Really whatever tickles my fancy on any given day because I’m just a farm girl who loves history.

From Farm Fields to History

I grew up bottle-feeding calves, walking bean rows, and listening to my grandparents’ stories at the kitchen table. This blog is where I trace those memories into family genealogy, land records, and the wider sweep of American rural history.
